On the western coast of Croatia, along the border with Slovenia and surrounded by the warm Adriatic Sea you will find the triangle-shaped Istrian peninsula, the perfect place for your holiday. Istria is rich in activities and events that will satisfy every guest's needs and wants, from active holiday activities to spa holidays and family vacations or quick getaways for two. Excellent roadway connections within the peninsula itself and with the rest of Croatia and the neighbouring European Union mean that you can explore the wider region and discover the jewels of Istria, Croatia and beyond with ease from Rabac.
With approximately two hundred thousand inhabitants, Istria is the most westerly point of Croatia. The official languages of the region are Croatian and Italian and Istrians are hospitable, tolerant and honest people.
The Istrian seaside has about 400 kilometres of coastline bathed in a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. When you travel from the coast towards the hinterland, the climate becomes colder and it is possible to find snow on the slopes of Učka Mountain in Istria's northern interior. The temperature in the winter is about 10°C, while the average summer temperature is 23°C.
The largest city in Istria is Pula, located at the southern most tip of the peninsula. Both the eastern and western coasts of Istria are dotted with larger and smaller cities and towns which breathe with deep blue lungs and are closely tied to the sea while the hinterland is home to smaller towns which abound with interesting architecture, greenery and farm tourism possibilities. Both blue and green Istria boast a wealth of vineyards, olive groves and majestic forests.
